ANNUAL HOLIDAY SOCIAL
(AND FIRST WINTER STORM!)

Thursday, December 4, 2008
Ohio Brewing Company (Downtown Akron)
Joint with Akron AIA and NAWIC #124 (Akron)

Join The Akron-Canton CSI, Akron AIA and NAWIC #124 (Akron) at the Ohio Brewing Company in downtown Akron, and share in some holiday joy and merriment! Sample some of the Ohio Brewing Company’s great food and drinks, including their Christmas brew. The event has gotten so large we’ve had to move the location to the much larger balcony over looking the Ohio Brewing Company bar and restaurant! We hope to see you there!

As an attendee, you will receive one drink ticket. One additional drink ticket will be available if you bring a set of NEW hats and gloves to donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs of The Western Reserve (formally the Boys & Girls Clubs of Summit County). This organization’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. It is the season of giving and we hope that you won’t limit yourself to just one set of a hat and gloves. (Only a total of one additional drink ticket will be distributed). Feel free to bring additional items (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.) to help those in need. Last year we collected so many hats and gloves that they filled the back seat of a car! The Boys & Girls Clubs were overly grateful to everyone who donated!

OTHER INDUSTRY UPCOMING EVENTS:
THE INTERNATIONAL MASONRY INSTITUTE PRESENTS:
Increased Efficiency = RAM Advanse
for Hybrid / Load-bearing Masonry Structures

• Reduce staff design time
• Design your buildings with more accurate calculations
• Increase your bottom line on all of your masonry structure designs

Don’t miss the exciting, national seminar series on the new concept of “hybrid” masonry/steel design featuring load-sharing reinforced masonry infill in a structural steel frame. The IMI, NCMA, Ryan Biggs Associates and Bentley Systems have teamed up to develop a new, innovative structural software program to efficiently perform a whole building analysis of both load bearing masonry buildings and the new “hybrid” structure concept. The software uses a whole building approach – not just the analysis of individual components. Learn how this approach leads to easier and faster engineering design of masonry buildings including irregular configurations, wall openings, multi-story structures and structural infill panels in structural steel frames and more.

The International Masonry Institute in conjunction with National Concrete Masonry Association and the Ohio Masonry Association will be presenting a seminar on this innovative approach. Earn up to 3.5 contact/PDH hours in a half day session.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Structural and Civil Engineers and others interested in learning more about structural masonry

CEU/PDH CREDITS
This program meets AIA/CES criteria for Continuing Education. Attendees will receive 3.5 AIA/CES hours for attending this event. Additionally NY State professional engineering credits are in process. A Certificate of Attendance for 3.5 contact hours/PDH credits will be provided. It is the attendees’ responsibility to determine if the seminar meets their governing board’s requirements.

COST - $125.00
